We got to enjoy a few Peru traditions before school finished on Dec 19th. There was a "chocolada" at the school, everyone has hot chocolate and dips huge slices of panettone in it (its a cake with dried friut).
I got the hear the neighbors making an early morning yard fire to heat up water, and later Taegan and Steven got to hear them killing the pig that was to go in the water.
On Dec 19th the kids got out of school and we took the overnight bus to Lima and then caught a morning flight to Santiago. Santiago blew our mind with the food, the wine, parks and greenspace, its so different than Lima! Had an awesome stay, and now we are in Puerto Varas looking at a big lake with a couple of volcanoes in the backround. Christmas Eve is the big day here, so tonight we have a late dinner and then stay up till midnight when the town sets off fireworks over the lake.
Its funny having Christmas in summer with it being warm and light until 9pm, but we are loving it!
